The Mando-lorian

"I can bring you in warm, or I can bring you in cold."

Ministravaganza is here and boy, did we get some juicy reveals. I hope everyone that was in our discord at the time had a laugh watching me lose my lid over all these wonderful releases. lol.

If you haven't seen it yet, or you don't know what a Ministravaganza is, check out AMG's Twitch page for today's stream.

There were a lot of juicy reveals, but let's talk about one in particular. A character most people in my local area have been asking about for the last couple of years. The man and bounty hunter himself: Din Djarin.

Din Djarin - The Rebel Bounty Hunter

It finally happened! Rebels have now become the only faction with access to both Secret Mission and Bounty.

Why is this significant? Well it means that the faction that loves win on objectives and score victory points now has not 1, but 2 separate ways to score victory points outside of the objective deck.

While you soak that in, let's break down Din's stats. First up, he's a “Rogue” affiliated mercenary. This means that you need the Underworld C upgrade to take more than one mercenary and you can't issue him orders without that command upgrade. But issuing him orders shouldn't be a huge issue when he has Independent: Aim 1 and Dodge 1. He's going to token up whenever you can't get orders on him.

And if you like tokens he has Tactical 1 to gain an aim whenever he move. His gun is the same as Cassian Andors with 2 red and a black with 2 exceptions he has surge to crit and versatile to shoot out of melee. Din Djarin also has Arsenal 2, why arsenal 2 and of course rounding out his card is the classic Mandalorian saving profile with red defense dice, surge on defense and impervious.

BABY YODA!! (Acktually his name is Grogu *pushes glasses up nose)

What would our stoic hero be without his beloved companion.

THE GOOD: Grogu is a counterpart to Din Djarin. He adds 1 health to Din as well as a couple of fun random abilities. Perhaps he might even have his own command cards coming as well? Time will tell.

THE BAD: Grogu is hunted. If you've seen the show you know what this means. Everyone and anyone wants this little green ball of midichlorians. If Grogu would be defeated his mini is replaced with an asset token and each trooper unit can claim it. Enemy players controlling it at the end of the game gain 1 victory point.

– Din Amban Rifle –

Oh boy! Reading this armament upgrade card gave me some very clear emotions. Confusion, surprise and shock. Firstly, this gun has 2 components:

  • Melee - 3 black standard melee and with Arsenal 2 this can combine with his vibro knife for 5 black dice. Immobilze 2 and Suppressive ain't bad either. But lets take a look at the card text.

  • Both Action Attack - So here is where the emotion kicked in for me. Din can spend both action in his turn. He then gets a speed 1 move and can roll a red attack die on any enemy unit he can see on the board. That unit then takes a wound and a suppression if he rolls a hit or a crit.

Did you like rolling defense dice? Because that just got removed for this card effect.... This could end up being the best sniper rifle in the game as it makes its way though impervious, immune to: pierce, cover, dodges, and deflect. Oh and it has infinite range.

– Whistling Birds –

We got a preview of The Mandalorians 3 pip which is both a thematic and spicy card. It gives a single order to him. Similar to his gun Din can choose up to 3 units at range one of him roll a white die for each mini and they take another automatic wound for each hit, crit and surge result.

Conclusion

So Din has ways to give out wounds to units both at close and long range punching through saves. He's a great scalpel piece for carving through corp troopers as well. Watch out Palpatine, here comes The Mandalorian. What we still have left to see is his other command cards and possibly some other armaments. Will Din get access to the Darksaber & Beskar spear? Maybe, time will tell.

Thanks again for reading and may the force be with you.
